Speak Booktalk

This is a great book for boys and girls, definitely a 9 out of 10. Melinda is the main character and she is just starting the 9th grade. Last year she had lots of friends and was very popular, but this year everyone seems to be avoiding her, and her ex-bff, Rachel, even hates her. Melinda starts making friends with a new student at school, Heather, who kind of becomes her new bff even though she is really trying to get in with the popular crowd and Rachel´s friends. Melinda made good grades last year and enjoyed being at school, but now she hates everything and her grades are terrible. She doesn´t talk to anyone, other kids bully her, and she doesn´t get along well with her parents.

Although, the first 100 pages you are just trying to piece together the events that happend at the party before school ended the year before, if you stick with Speak, what happened to Melinda at the party and why she called the police will surely shock you. This is definitely not an easy book, and I would say it could be even challenging at times, but this is a book that you will remember for the rest of your life.
